My basic ramblings. Read on if you like. I'm not generally concerned about being "PC" so if you're a crabby person...save yourself some stress. Don't read.
What do you think?

I know I've already posted today. But, then I read some headlines, and this one popped out at me.

Mass. High Court Rules for Gay Marriage

I think it's about time. I'm not gay. But I know a couple people who are. We've never really talked about those things. I always thought "Love is love." Why shouldn't you be allowed to marry the one you love?
I know that in some states, the church has a strong hold on the lawmakers, and nothing they don't like gets past them. I don't think that's right either. To allow a small group of people decide for others what's right and wrong. Certain things, sure. Murder. We all know that's wrong. But we're talking about love, and the outward expression of it.
I don't know anything really. I'm just an average girl living in the world. I don't have all the answers. I never claimed to.
BUT. When it comes to letting other people make their own choices about who they want to marry, I don't think anyone besides those two people should be allowed to decide that for them.
I don't want to marry a woman. But then, I'm not in love with one either. It's not my doorstep. I don't care what anyone else does, as long as they aren't killing or hurting anyone.
Why can't we just let it go at that? Do what you will, harm none.
Where's the harm in wanting to marry someone you love?
Simple minded, I know.

What do you think? And please, be nice.

I agree with you wholeheatedly! It's about freakin time. I think they should have the same rights as anyone else. Let them deal with marriage, divorce, alimony, what have you. If they love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together, then it should be legal.

I am in favor of this 100%!! And good for you for posting it

I agree as well. It doesn't harm me; in a lot of cases it inspires me to see people who are together, together in spite of the hate, ignorance and hostility that their very relationship sometimes elicts. And why? Because they love each other? Because a man should only marry a woman? The very view of marriage is religious in nature, for most people. We're not all of the same religion. In my culture, two-spiritness is/can be respected, and honoured. Not everyone is the same, or has the same opinion. Fine, but why impose personal beliefs on others to the point of shame, pain, despair, and grief? I think its high time that we celebrate our differences. Good for those couples who choose to do the same, while celebrating their love for each other.

MistfitChicks - The people have not yet spoken !!!

Public opinion currently runs towards outlawing gay marriage, and our leader certainly believes this is the right thing to do.

The next ten years will certainly bring about some colossal shifts as the younger generation grows up and becomes more engaged in the political process. A somewhat old article really illustrates the trends going into the future - time *seems* to be on your side.

I agree with you Poet. As the younger generation gets older, more involved. I think there will be colossal shifts. The younger generation is not as "freaked" by the thought of gay people. They are more apt to let it go by without a second look.

I'm certainly not saying we should force the beliefs of any group down anyone throat. But then, that street moves two ways.
Live and let live.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Nice to know I'm not alone in thinking people should have choices about their own lives.
Take care of you out there!

If our government refuses to uphold the U.S. constitution then let us change our pledge of allegiance to this:
I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United Straights of America
and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisable, with liberty and justice for straight people only. GCJ

Joe, you certainly are a Gem.
It's so sad that our politians seem hellbent on just making laws, and not solving problems.
