My basic ramblings. Read on if you like. I'm not generally concerned about being "PC" so if you're a crabby person...save yourself some stress. Don't read.

Winter Blahs...Yikes

Thankfully, this week, Mother Nature has let off on the sub-zero temps. It's around 30 outside right now. And that feels like a heat wave after the minus degrees we had. We got a crap load of snow yesterday. But it was the heavy snow. Great for snowballs, and not too awful to drive on.

Last night, I was wandering around my kitchen, making a little snack to go with my shows I was watching in the living room. We have a "baby gate" in the door way of the little sunroom so the dog doesn't eat the cat's food all the time. I leaned over it to toss a cardboard box into the recycling bin and must have hit the gate, which then came down on my toe. OUCH! I hopped around and swore a bunch. My cats sat and watched me from a distance. Must have looked funny. I took some Advil, and attempted to forget about the throbbing going on in my toe.
It still hurts today. But at least I'm not limping around anymore.
Don't you hate when you do something like that? It just makes you feel clumsy.

Ever notice that on TV the commercials for people using their computers, the desk is always neat and tidy. Most of the time, the computer is in the living room. I think that those people don't live with anyone else, and they never actually do anything with their computers.

I'm lucky enough to have a room in the house I can set all this stuff up in. In the room I have, there are built in shelves on the wall. One of them was meant for a TV to sit in, that's where my monitor and stereo sit. I have my sound jacked through my stereo. Kinda nice to have. A shelf up and off to the right of my desk, sits my printer. The shelf below that, various dictionaries, note pads, and reference material. All the other shelves have things on them. Encyclopedias, my program cd's, blank cases, music books, etc. The shelf off to the left, my VCR usually sits there. But at the moment, it's in the living room connected to my DVR. So I can pull the episodes I recorded off and make VCD's out of them.

My desk isn't a total disaster, but it's not pin straight either. I have spindles of cd's sitting on my desk. One is blank cd's, the other is cd's of mp3. I have a stack of VHS tapes I have to capture things off of yet. Various items like my chapstick, white out and nail file. I have two pen holders. One with a varied amount of markers, highlighters and sharpies. The other has my good sharpies, a ruler, pencils and pens I use most. My web cam sits off to the side. Since I don't use it much. I also have various scrapes of paper. Lists. What's on what tape, what has to paid this week, receipts from stores I went to and used my debt card, so I don't lose track of what I spent. Oh, and my trackball is on the desk. I have a desk with the pull out keyboard tray. So that's not sitting up there too.

What's on your desk? I just had a flash of the "What's in your wallet?" commercial. Funny.

Ah. It's 11:30. I have to go wash my hair. Otherwise, it'll never be dry enough by the time I have to go to work.

Take care of you today!

My desk is...
messy, cluttered with random objects that I am too lazy to file away in the side drawer to my right. It holds a cellphone (because I have dialup and no one can ever reach me on my landline), marbles, gum, various remote controls, pictures drawn from my child, lots of scrap paper with scribbled notes, candles, a pile of change, printer, discs, a walkie-talkie, a magic eraser, drill bits (because one shelf falls off frequently enough) a New Year's Eve horn, homemade art projects of my daughter, and high scores of assorted computer games marked in ink on my computer screen frame, and a plastic flower sitting along side a bottle of bubble bath liquid.
I can't wait until spring, so that I am not spending as much time inside, as I have been lately. In the spring and summer, I am never home, but busy doing athletic activities with my kid. The house generally stays clean. I don't know if we'll make until spring, because winter seems to be hanging on forever...
take care

Uh-oh Nicky! Jeremy's got an idea! Take cover!

Most of the items on your desk sound normal enough. But what's the bubble bath stuff doing there? Is it in a really cool bottle? Or did your child place it there and it's just been keeping you company ever since?

I'm curious.

I can't wait for spring either! Winter is hanging on and shows no signs of letting go.
I live in Upstate NY. South of Syracuse. If you've been watching the news, a town north of Syracuse made national news because of all the snow they've been getting. They used up all the allotted snow days already, and it's still snowing up there. Lake effect or whatever they call it. But they've gotten buried up there. Thankfully, we haven't gotten as much as they have. But, I'm definately sick of it by now.
Come on Spring time!!!!

Take an item off any normal person's desk. Repeat about a hundred times. Put all of these items in a box. Locate a hand grenade, pull pin, then place in box. Wait eight seconds and clear smoke. You now have a fairly accurate representation of what my desk normally looks like.

Ali, close guess, but just a bit off. The bubble bath bottle was taken away from my girl. Placed on the high shelf above the computer and there it sits. That was about a month ago.

Holy smokes Frog! Ya know what they say though, a neat desk is a sure sign of a sick mind!

Aha, Nicky...I see, you didn't want your floor to smell like bubble bath! Wise parent!
I had quite the collection myself at one time. My daughter liked everything. I think it's just the kid thing, you hang on to something until it gets taken or you find something else to drag around with you.
