Alright. Monday evening. CSI Miami is on. But...the man...Whose name I can not recall right now..He has a strange acting style. I like the regular CSI best. William Peterson, far more entertaining. Maybe they just give him better scripts.
I just returned home. Boyfriend took me to the movies. We saw Paycheck. I tried conning him into Mona Lisa Smile...but no dice. Paycheck was not bad. You didn't realize 2 hours went by. It keeps you in the story. Very little lag...well thought out. Interesting plot. Plenty of action, chase scenes and shoot outs for the boys. For the girls? Well..Ben Affleck's pretty darn cute. And the story wasn't half bad.
I have something on my desk that's loose. Perhaps hanging off the edge...it's making a weird sound when I type. Like a cat purring. And neither of my cats are in the room...it's gotta be the desk......Aha! Blank CD spindle cover. Now, I can freak out all on my own. No extra help needed!
I still don't have a clue what the rank thing on here means. Personally, I'm thrilled that just one other person is reading. Makes it all special.
I've looked at some other logs. It's like hanging out at the mall and hearing different conversations. Wow. That's neat. Everyone here seems to get along, I'm sure there's hostility to be found...I'm not looking for it real hard. There's enough floating around out there. I don't need to bring it to my santuary that is my office.
I promised to tell you about me. I didn't use that phrasing of promise..I implied. Which to me, is close enough.
I have a strange hobby. I collect TV episodes. DVD and VCD. VCD's mainly until they come out on DVD. Unfortunately for me, only a few have been released on DVD. Angel, Buffy. It appears they may do all of Smallville, West Wing and CSI. So far, no Charmed, Gilmore Girls, Third Watch or Pretender. Also, Wings (Sit Com from the 80/90's..the one about the airport). I'm still waiting to see if Tru Calling holds in for a full season. I'm hoping it does. I like the premise of the show. It's kinda like 24. At first, it's hard to get used to, but once you get the timing of the show...you're hooked in.
I watch quite of a bit of TV. It's not for nothing, you understand. It has a purpose. Several actually. 1> You never know where some of the songs might come from that people ask for or about. They'll say.."You know the one they used on X show during the end scene?" (Which, BY the way, Paycheck's opening sequence uses the theme music from Stargate SG-1! It's almost buried under sound effects...but it's there) 2> It gives me something to talk about with other patrons and what not. 3> Back where I grew up, Stevens Point, WI. They hold a trivia contest. And the guys that write the questions are interesting. They may watch anything. In my trivia team, I'm kinda the odds and ends girl. I tend to watch the odd stuff that the rest of the group never bothers with. One year I got us 500 points just for knowing that on a short lived sit com about a judge, she had licence plates hanging on her kitchen walls. Can't even remember the series now...but I remember that. I have a head full of useless junk.
Here's the web site for anyone interested in seeing some of the team names from last year. http://momsfamilies.com/trivia/ All you have to do is look at last years scores.Actually, this year. (Since the contest takes place in April) All the teams will be listed along with the place they took in the contest. The team I played with was "Bend Over Irene In The Buff" we took 111th place. Not bad for 458 teams playing. Some of the team names are a scream, and are topical to what was happening in the news at the time.
People travel back home from where ever they are to play. It starts generally on Friday night at 6 PM and goes till Sunday night Midnight. 8 questions an hour for 74 hours. They take a break at 6PM on Saturday to read all the places to that point. And they do a Trivia Stone. You have to cruise around town, turn at the various landmarks and get a stamp in your book. It's all about the points. But it's really really fun. Basically, you hang out with pals, drink some beer, eat some food and have fun. I seriously hope I can make it home this upcoming year for it. I really miss my pals.
And of course, I can stop in and check on my dad. Make sure the 26 year old hasn't killed him. Given him a heartattack or something.
My time off is coming to an end. Back to at least a partial grind tomorrow. Then of course, New Years' Eve. One of these days, I will not work on New Year's Eve and I will be one of the silly drunks. But that's not going to happen for a long time. I only drink once every couple of months anyway. Why? So I can remind myself why I don't do it more often.
Hey, does anyone watch Queer Eye For The Straight Guy? I think the show is great. But I was curious about other people's opinions on it. What do you think? I encourage the boys to watch it..due to the tips the guys give on personal grooming and ettiquette. I miss my gay friend, Jay. He was so much fun and I never had to worry about anything happening to me in his company. He had no interest in seeing me naked.
Well, I'm going to go and do some more stuff. I have about 10 more hours of shows that need to be grabbed off the DVR and transferred to VCD. It's not going to be done tonight, but at least I can make a dent in it.
Take care of you and thanks for reading.
